A one dish dinner - broccoli and ham, with cheddar, mozzarella, and cream cheese, baked in braided dough.

Ingredients
  • 1½ cups water
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • ¼ cup oil
  • ½ cup ground flax seed
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 4 cups ground hard red winter wheat
  • 1 teaspoon gluten
  • 1 pound broccoli florets, cooked and drained
  • 10 slices Canadian Ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients for dough (water, yeast, salt, flax, oil, flour, gluten), knead, and set aside to rise.
  2. After rising, punch dough down, and on an oven safe sheet (silpat or greased parchment) roll dough into an 11x13 rectangle.
  3. Down center of dough layer, starting and ending with cheeses.
  4. Cut dough up to the filling layer, making an equal number of cuts on each side of filling..
  5. Braid top.
  6. Allow to rise again.
  7. Make egg washing, by whisking an egg and tablespoon of water together. Using a pastry brush, apply egg wash across top of ham broccoli bake.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve hot.
