Quick and Easy Homemade Pizza Crust

Pizza night is a regular occurrence in our house.  As a matter of fact, every Friday night is Pizza, Popcorn, and Movie night.  The kids look forward to it, and quite honestly, so do I!

Pizza is super easy to make, and you can top it with just about anything under the sun.  Trust me on this one, my husband gets a little crazy with his toppings.  Who would have thought to put hotdogs on a pizza?!

Over time I’ve pretty much perfected our pizza crust recipe.  It’s super easy, and it freezes good, too.  That means you can make up a couple of batches, put it in ziploc bags and store in the freezer for those busy Friday nights when you don’t feel like pulling out the mixer.

You’ll need::

1 cup plus 2 Tbs Warm Water
2 ½ tsp yeast
2 Tbs Olive Oil
3 1/2 cups white whole wheat flour
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 ½ tsp Italian Seasoning (optional)
2 Tbs Parmesan Cheese (optional)

yeast

In your mixing bowl add the yeast then the warm water, salt and sugar.  Let sit until bubbly, about 5 minutes.

While the yeast is activating, grind your wheat berries–using the bread setting.
Add in the remaining ingredients.
Mix on low until incorporated.

Once incorporated mix on speed #2 for about 2 minutes. Your dough should spring back when touched. If it’s sticky, just add in additional flour.
Once mixed up, let sit for 5 additional minutes.
Place on pizza pans (or cookie sheets) dusted with cornmeal, spreading out with your fingers.

Or you can separate the dough into individual personal size pizzas.

Add your favorite toppings and bake at 400° for 18-20 minutes.

Now all you need to do is pop the popcorn and find a good movie!
